The Hope Valley Sno Park is located at 38°44'54.8"N 119°56'22.9"W
It is located along Hwy 88 a few miles past the turn-off to South Lake Tahoe.
Elevation is 7159'

Note: A California Sno Park permit is required, and this area is heavily patrolled by CHP looking for those passes, and also for installed tire chains if you are towing and chain controls are in effect.
On weekends, especially after a storm, the parking lot will fill up QUICKLY. Plan to be here no later than 8:30 AM or you may not have a place to park.
There is a large parking area near the entrance specifically for trailers and overnighters. The last information I saw said that overnight parking is allowed but you are supposed to stake all four corners of your rig with tall, fluorescent orange poles to avoid being struck by snow plows.
RED LAKE
This area is just up the road (a couple miles at most) from the Sno Park. It's a very small area with (as I'm told) parking on both sides of the road. Note there are signs in one of those lots saying No Trailers (I'm not sure which). This is a back way into the area; if you ride down the trail you will end up fairly close to Upper Blue Lake. The area is very popular with non-snowmobilers (aka "greenies") so expect glares of disapproval.
This is not a Sno Park so no permit is required.
If you have more information to add, please PM me and I will add it.
